The Dig
People Under the Stairs : O.S.T. (Original Soundtrack)$MTEntryExcerpt$>This song is drenched in hip hop. From the beat to the lyrics, hip hop just oozes like the slime from Slimer onto your record player. It's almost sickening.[pP]>yankse 1.34
The beat starts off really good with a dope, dope break and sort of a low, filtered choir sample that's hard to hear when you're listening in your cubicle at work. During the chorus, the choir comes in with some cool strings and you finally can capture the beat in your mind to take with you for the rest of the song.[pP]>yankse 1.34
The lyrics are straight up braggadocious. It's the usual "I'm more hip hop than you are" rap. This one is pretty thick though, with lines like, "When I die, don't cry, just put my records in a coffin/ and bury me next to a very big tree, with my MPC/" and "My fingertips been touching wax since I was a small kid/" In fact, if you aren't into hip hop and haven't been for a while, I would feel comfortable in saying that you won't understand the song (or get why it was written).[pP]>yankse 1.34
It's a nice song and on first listen I really liked it. As I keep listening though and thinking about the cliche that is just pounded into your head, it's not as enjoyable. Good, but a bit boring to think about.[pP]>yankse 1.34
