Leaders of the New School : T.I.M.E.

The "Difference" here in this song is in this group's ability to bring you the new. That has always been their call hence the name name Leaders of the New School. While that's debatable, it is the call of most rap groups. It's a noble call too because a lot of hip hop is the same hence the genre classification. This song isn't anything new but it's still a cool song.Myjal with patch

I call LONS a scream-hop group because they scream their lyrics and because it's fun to come up with your subgenre names. They also have the rest of the group scream different words with the solo MC to emphasize them (however unemphasizable they may be). The lyrics are your average bragging stuff - nothing new here. They get the point across. I like how they all rhyme though - that's the major difference. I also only like Busta Rhymes in LONS (and maybe a couple of songs on his first solo). Can't beat a good Charlie Brown verse either.. or Dinco D. LONS could've potentially been one of my favorite hip hop groups but they just didn't deliver. Too bad guys - you could've been on my list (a real thrill!).Myjal with patch

The beat is pretty simple - not a lot going on. Some horn stuff, a couple of beeps that change pitch here and there and some effects sounds. The drums are what get me though. I love big, bangin' snares like this. I like breaks that are doubled up with other snares and such. Good stuff.Myjal with patch

This album was a real let-down for me when I got it in high school. Listening now though, I kind of like it a bit better - I hear the stuff I didn't hear back then.Myjal with patch
